There are only a few places in the world that offer such a unique encounter. The unique, uncomplicated, family hotel and co-living concept with self-catering kitchens, the dreamlike garden with sheep and chickens and the special, relaxed, trusting atmosphere inspire especially sophisticated and unconventional people.
„Cosmopolitanism and philanthropy are evident in these historic spaces. We are very impressed with the generosity and free thinking with which you meet your visitors.“
I. & N. Lachs, Deutschland, September 2020
We welcome guests of all cultures. We welcome workers as warmly as multi-millionaires and look forward to families with well-behaved children, travelers with animals, elderly guests, people with disabilities, simply anyone who can appreciate this special place.
Co-Living
Home for a time
The Mörlbacher Schlösschen is a unique mixture of hotel, vacation apartment, shared apartment and boarding house, where guests on 4 floors and a park-like garden are self-sufficient and live together in a variety of ways.
It is the home of the Abraham family and temporary home for a stimulating melange of congenial, cosmopolitan people: in private living areas, with 6 kitchens and 21 bathrooms/toilets. In a professionally organized ambience, Schloss Mörlbach offers a domicile for individualists, families, groups, for people who want to take time out from everyday life or the hustle and bustle of the city, for seminars, team-building sessions, film shoots and much more.
It is not surprising that you will not find standardized accommodation here. Instead, we offer 26 completely different guest rooms for our guests to choose from. This includes stylish Beletage rooms with private bathrooms, small budget rooms in the basement, Tower and bay rooms, large and small apartments with 2 to 10 rooms and their own kitchen. Additionally, we have 2 original tiny houses in the park.
Whether for a few nights or several months, maybe even years: Mörlbach Castle can become a second home for you.
The guests have 6 fully equipped and daily cleaned common kitchens at their disposal. Each kitchen is shared by 4 or 5 rooms ensuring that our guests have ample space to prepare their meals comfortably. For the initial supply, our basement has a large central refrigerator and freezer and a small farm store with fresh organic food from the region. You can find eggs from our own chickens, and Demeter raw milk from the farmer from the neighboring village. Also in stock are chips, candy, ice cream, fruit, cereals, organic cheese and sausage, and the best croissants outside Paris. We also have a self-service drinks section with a trust - based cash register.
Our garden spans 5000 square meters and offers numerous seating and lounging areas, providing ample space for those who want to enjoy the tranquillity of this special place and for those who appreciate socializing.
This is what we mean by co-living: living together in an open, communicative atmosphere with plenty of personal space, where everyone can just as easily keep to themselves.
With us, everyone may be happy according to his façon!

The location -
Best prospects
Mörlbach Castle is located on the southern edge of the small village of Mörlbach, which gives it its name. In addition to its 200 inhabitants, the castle is also home to 27 dogs, 16 cats, 15 chickens, 10 sheep, 28 cows, 5 horses and 10 alpacas.
If you walk a short way up the hill from our castle, you will be rewarderd with a breathtaking view of meadows, fields and forests against the imposing backdrop of the Northern Limestone Alps.
The villa ge is embedded in a magnificent cultural landscape of the so-called Fünfseenland, which calls numerous nature reserves and moorlands its own. The nearby lakes invite you to swim in summer, they are winter quarters for many migratory birds and offer a home to rare, protected bird species.
The possibilities to explore this magnificent landscape between the famous Starnberger See (drinking water quality) and the river Isar on foot, by bike or by car are endless. Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Neuschwanstein Castle, built by the legendary Bavarian King Ludwig II, are barely an hour away by car.
The way to Munich, Bavaria's capital, with its museums, theaters and its urban southern flair is not far (27 km to the center), reachable by bus and S-Bahn in 45 minutes and by car in 25 minutes.
If you want to make a side trip to the Mozart city of Salzburg, you can do it in 100 minutes by car, and it takes just 150 minutes to get to Italy.
Truly a special location.
The
hosts
The owner family, Gundel and Franz Abraham, and sometimes our three adult daughters Eva, Mia and Zarah, live here with our dog "Idi" Idefux, the cats Frida and Ürmel, seven chickens, a rooster named Nero, the three Ouessant sheep Trudi, Traudi and Pippi with their two children Bocki and Lotta and soon a bee colony.
We like modest and well educated housemates with taste. Therefore, and to make money, we have opened our wonderful "apartment house" and garden to travelers and long-term tenants. We host a colorful mix of people from all over the world.
The house -
charm & flair
„I love the idea of turning the old château into a mint Airbnb with charm. The hosts as well as the staff are super friendly. Very cool, stylish decor with old concert posters. It is very quiet, you have a great view. You can retreat or sit together with the other guests in the beautiful kitchens. Unreserved recommendation, a really great place to stay!“

Charme & Flair
Schloss Mörlbach, an Art Nouveau mansion affectionately known by guests as "Château Abraham," was built between 1912 and 1914 by Lieutenant Fritz Bullrich as a mansion. In 1946 it was taken over by the Americans and served as a mother's school for the SOS Children's Villages from 1975 to 1999. The house with a total of 35 rooms on 1200 square meters of living space has been privately owned by the family Franz and Gundel Abraham since 2000, with a four-year interruption.
From 2000 to 2010 it housed Franz Abraham's company ART CONCERTS, of which the many concert posters in the house bear eloquent witness.
We have been steadily renovating and enhancing our home and garden for many years, improving both the organizational and communication structures. Our vision is to bring the venerable house, which is over 100 years old, back to it’s original state while improving it’s interior. We spare no cost or effort in this life task, which is more than just a restoration but a way of life.
That is why we are especially looking forward to such guests who can understand and appreciate our passion, namely to want the ultimate beauty.
The garden
A sublime old chestnut avenue frames the south side of the garden. You can find both sunny and shady spots to relax in and enjoy the surroundings. Whether you want to lie down in a hammock or sit in a deck chair, do gymnastics in the grass, watch our funny chickens and sheep or observe the many bees, butterflies and birds that enjoy themselves here. In this green oasis everyone will find a place that suits their mood at any given moment.
Several swings hang from the branches of the mighty trees, a very long adventure zip line and a large trampoline await big and small children, while a small cozy mysterious wooden children's house is reserved only for the little ones: "No adults allowed!" is written on the doors.
On balmy summer evenings or frostier "team builds" in November, you can light a campfire or host a delicious BBQ; several tried-and-true grills are available for this purpose.
To the north, the castle pond reflects the silhouette - as long as the many fat carp do not ripple the water surface. In cold winters on a thick sheet of ice, the pond occasionally serves as the scene of a convivial round of curling with our neighbors and guests.
In the green idyll of the 5000 square meter garden, there is enough space for everyone:
For those who want to enjoy the tranquility of this special place as well as for those who appreciate exchange and meeting. At the six-meter-long, self-built oak table, at the barbecue and fireplace, or on a bench by the castle pond, opportunities for short and sometimes longer conversations can arise.
